AI Advisor

An optional AI layer, included in Pro, that explains your report in plain English. It runs inside your own Azure subscription.

What it does

  • A weekly brief on the overview: what changed, what matters most and why.
  • Explain this with AI on any action: why it matters for your business and what could happen if it’s ignored.

Turning it on

Tick Add CloudLens Advisor when you connect Azure — in the portal form, with --ai in the Bash script, -Ai in PowerShell, or enable_ai_advisor = true in Terraform. To add it later, run the setup again with the option ticked; it updates the existing install.

Where it runs

The setup adds one AI model to your subscription. You choose where it may process data: anywhere in Azure (widest availability), within the US or EU data zone, or only in the chosen region. If the model isn’t available in your region, choose another region or processing option.

Where your data goes

The model runs in your subscription and only the agent can use it — there are no API keys. It receives only numbered totals and counts with neutral labels: no resource names or IDs, no tag values, no identities. Your data is not sent to CloudLens or to an AI vendor. As with any AI service in Azure, Microsoft’s safety monitoring may keep prompts for up to 30 days unless your organization has an exemption.

How answers are checked

  • Every number in the text must match your data; otherwise the answer is discarded.
  • It can only talk about actions already in your plan.
  • Links, commands, code and advice that weakens security are refused.
  • CloudLens checks the answer again before showing it, and labels every AI text.

What it never does

It never changes anything in Azure, never decides what is wrong (fixed rules do that), and never writes fix steps — those stay the guides written by people.

Cost

Included in Pro. The model’s usage is billed by Azure in your subscription, typically around a dollar a month.

You stay in control of it. Each connection stops at a fixed monthly limit, and the plain summaries carry on until the next month. Settings shows this month’s usage and lets you switch the AI off for any connection. Azure also emails your subscription owners if the AI resource is used far more than CloudLens would ever use it.
