Scores and numbers

Every number traces back to something Azure reports. Scores are calculated by fixed rules, the same for every customer.

The health score

A score from 0 to 100 built from four areas: cost (25%), security (30%), governance (20%) and reliability (25%). Grades: A from 90, B from 75, C from 60, D from 40.

The four areas

AreaBuilt from
CostSavings available compared with your monthly spend, spend trend, idle resources
SecurityDefender secure score, open findings by severity, internet exposure, MFA on admin accounts
GovernanceTag coverage and policy compliance
ReliabilityResource availability, backup coverage, fired alerts, active Azure incidents

Open any area page and choose How this score is built to see each input and its weight.

Completeness and unknowns

If an input can’t be read — for example Defender is off — it is left out rather than counted as zero, and the score shows what share of inputs it is built from.

Where money figures come from

  • Savings are Azure Advisor’s own estimates.
  • Idle resources are priced from Azure’s public list prices and labelled “list”; your bill may differ, and these are kept out of the savings total.
  • Spend is actual cost from Cost Management, up to yesterday — today is always incomplete.
  • CloudLens never adds different currencies together.

History and what changed

The agent keeps one small daily record in your storage. CloudLens uses it for the score history and “What changed this week”, which compares today with a week ago.
